birth days and dolls

Akilah celebrated her third birthday this past weekend! weeeew how time flies! The day prior our good friends Gabriela and Brian had their baby girl and it is hard to remember Akilah being that teeny tiny, but she was.

Family came to town and we had a lovely visit. My parents, brother and grandma all came down from Pennsylvania to celebrate. I had planned on making Akilah a Waldorf doll as her birthday gift. However, I was having trouble figuring it out, and getting started because the cotton tubular stockinette that I needed to make the head did not arrive until two days before her birthday. So while my parents were here, I solicited the expert craftiness of my Mom to help!! She and I completed the doll over the weekend and are quite proud of the finished product.
