One Time Around the Sun.

Happy beautiful birthday Kaia!

One year ago today Kaia was born in the front corner of our living room; joining us on this side of the Rainbow Bridge (our favorite birthday story is that of the Waldorf variety). We are so blessed with her sweet disposition and spirit!

Today we celebrated in small yet meaningful ways, steering clear of a party, chaos, and "to do" lists that would have accompanied planned festivities. So very lovely.

Instead we:

Allowed for ample middle of the day play time in the bath; she loves it! (Only to discover the following day (okay I had suspected but was in denial) that she has eczema and shouldn't have baths. Darn.)

She was making motor noises with her mouth during this photo. LOVE her!

All the snow had melted and the warn sunshine was rather inviting so we bundled up for a walk. We went to a nearby park with a kite. It wasn't windy enough but Akilah sure enjoyed running around with the kite tails.

Kaia LOVES the swing. SO FUN!!!

Wheeeeeeeee!

After playing at the park we went for celebratory ice cream. Kaia, of course, was not allowed to have any but was rather content playing with a spoon.

Dinner time fun! Kale, chicken, celery and carrots. Yum!

Akilah had just blown out the candle, hence the surprised look on Kaia's face.

Yumster! Mama makes an awesome grain, refined sugar and dairy free cake!

Her cheeks are all red like that from our snow adventures earlier in the week. oooops!

Kaia is well over the 100th percentile, weighing in at 27 pounds, 32 inches long, and 10inch head circumference. It is quite astounding how fast this first year has flown by!
