Glow worms

Okay so these devices really are not crap, they are incredibly helpful for jaundice and we are so very grateful to be able to take care of it at home. However, our first 48 hours trying to use the bililight with Kaia were quite challenging. She is almost as long as the box and would startle herself every 15 seconds, smacking the sides of the contraption and knocking down the paper eye shield that is held in place with the tiniest amount of velcro. We were also given fabric goggles to use instead of the shield but they were not a hit. At. All. The bili"blanket" lies under her and she is supposed to be under the light whenever she is sleeping, but we never got that far. We would average about 5-10 minutes and the longest we made it was about 45 minutes while she was awake (that is when I took this photo). That is until last night... Last night I put a crap ton of soft blankets surrounding her and she slept for a total of 8 hours under it!!! Take that bilirubin! (One down side is that I don't sleep very well while she is in there, because of all the blankets. Hence all the sleepless time for blog updating.)

She had her blood re-tested yesterday and we still have yet to hear back about the results, which honestly do not matter any more to me because of the success we had with the light last night I think we are on the mend.

Here is our little glow worn on just the BiliBlanket. The most un-blanket like thing ever...
