Cheesemaking

Yesterday I embarked upon making homemade cheese for the first time. I started with ricotta and it was ridiculously easy! The final result is incredibly tasty. Next time I think I will try it without the addition of heavy cream though as it might be a bit unnecessary.

I used this recipe here and here is a great link for all the things you can do with the leftover whey because of course I am not throwing it away as the recipe suggests!

Some of the whey was used to soak our beans in preparation for cooking them today. The rest is frozen in ice cube trays to save for later.

Next on my list is this mozzarella (the microwave free version of course). I just need to find some citric acid and rennet first.
