Our 6th / 9th Anniversary - Part I (Friday)

This past weekend Tony and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary and our 9th anniversary of how long we have been together. We feel it is very important to acknowledge both, and conveniently they happen around the same-ish time each year!

This year we wanted to do something extra special (we usually just go out for dinner) so we rented the Knob Cabin at Briar Rose Farm. It was only about 30 miles northwest of our house, near Hot Springs and Spring Creek which was a perfect distance for this HG mama that still is troubled by traveling in a car.
View from our cabin.

A Friday afternoon hike.

The trail we hiked up that was out the front door of our cabin. (This is Katie, one of the farm dogs.)

Our cabin as we were walking up the trail.

Watching leaves fall off the trees and swirl to the ground.

Pipevine Swallowtail Caterpillar (I think...)

I got very tired going up the steep hill so plopped down into the leaves to take in the beauty. Tony continued on up the trail a bit and then we turned around and headed back to the cabin's hot tub.

View from my trail sit spot.

This is the view down the road from our cabin. It was incredibly private with not another soul in sight.

Fire pit at our cabin.

Saturday morning view.
Tony and I realized that this was our first ever excursion away that was 1) kid free 2) did not involve traveling because of a gig and 3) did not involve traveling to visit either of our families!! (We still have not yet been on our honeymoon.) We wanted to make it happen this year because of course with a baby on the way it will be a long long while before we are able to do it again. Many many thanks to our friends Becca, Scott, Banyan, Patty Cake, Julie, Dave, and Silas that took Akilah in for the weekend!

Stay tuned for Part II!
