First day of school.

Today was Akilah's first day of school for this year at the Little Round Schoolhouse. (Her teachers were sick last week and seeing as the schoolhouse is at their house, they decided to postpone the first week so as to not begin the rhythm of the year off kilter.)

Walking through the garden to the yurt.

Akilah was acting silly during this photo session.

Upon entering the yard... Not sure what was going on here. Tony said something about she was acting silly about him taking photos.

Mr. Scott awaits the children's arrival each morning at the gate. So sweet.

Walking across the bridge. Almost there!

Entering the sweet yurt. (I think this woman is a helper for the first week. I can't remember her name.)

This is Akilah's third year at the Little Round Schoolhouse! Sadly this is also probably her last, although technically she could still attend next year when she is 5-6. She has gone from being the youngest in the class to one of the oldest. So very cool. We are very grateful to have this opportunity for her. She attends three days a week from 9am-1pm which seems to be the perfect amount of time.  This program fits perfectly with so many different aspects of our philosophies...

We love love love that families are asked to not expose their children to media the evening before or the morning of a school day. We also truly appreciate that children are asked not to wear clothing that contains any media related images. Ahh such a lovely community of like minded families.
