Butterfly!!!

This past September we found a caterpillar on the doorway to our home. It turned into a chrysalis and wintered with us. We ended up transferring it into a mesh "Butterfly Garden" that my aunt sent Akilah. It was perfect! Honestly I was not all that sure it was ever going to emerge, it was looking rather dead... BUT today a beautiful swallowtail butterfly emerged!!!

I think it is an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, but I am not 100% sure.

It's empty! It was attached to the stick by two teeny threads. Darn those threads were uber strong. One broke off about a month ago because we put the garden on the front porch for a little while and it was really really windy.
