Armenia - Yerevan to Vayk

My plan to blog and post photos for every day we were in Armenia failed. Posting to the blog from the iPod was a maddening experience; during the process I lost a few posts and just gave up. So now two months after the fact I shall post of few installments of photos from the entire adventure. (The dates of the posts are close to the time they actually occurred.)

Today we traveled from Yerevan to Vayk via marshrutka. Marshrutkas are quite an entertaining experience with as many people crammed in as possible. One has to battle to have the windows opened because the older Armenians believe that the cross winds blowing into the vehicle will make you sick and of course there is no air conditioning so it gets crazy hot inside. We actually lucked out and did not wait until the vehicle was completely full to depart. (They typically create more seats in the middle of actual seats by placing small stools inside. We just waited until all the actual seats were filled and then departed. Yay!)

A random stop along the way. We had no idea how long we were going to be stopped (you never know!) so got out to cool off, grab a snack, and wait until we were told to board again.

Almost everyone else had gotten off before our last stop in Vayk. Here is the inside of the marshrutka minus all the rest of the passengers. Thankfully we were able to cram our backpacks in the aisle by our feet. There isn't much space for luggage!
